A telehandler, also called a teleporter or a zoom boom, is a piece of equipment commonly used in the agriculture industry. It is similar to a forklift but has a telescopic cylinder, making it more a crane than a forklift, with the expanded versatility of a single telescopic boom that can extend upward and forward from the vehicle. The boom can be fitted with different attachments, such as a bucket or a winch.
In industry, the most common attachment for a telehandler is pallet forks and the most widely used application is to move material from and to locations unattainable for a conventional forklift. For instance, zoom booms have the capability to move palletized cargo from within a box truck and to place that cargo on to rooftops and other elevated locations. The latter application would otherwise require a crane, which is not always practical or time-efficient on a work site.
In agriculture the most common attachment for a lull is a bucket, again the most widely used application is to transport to and from places unreachable for a 'conventional machine' which is typically is a wheeled loader or backhoe loader. For instance, zoom booms are able to reach directly into a high-sided trailer or hopper. The latter application would otherwise require a conveyor, or something similar
