A telehandler, also known as a teleporter or a reach forklift, is a piece of equipment often used in the construction industry. It is similar to a forklift but has a telescopic cylinder, making it more like a crane than a forklift, with the increased versatility of a single telescopic boom that can extend forward and upward from the machine. The boom can be fitted with different attachments, such as a bucket or a muck grab. In construction, the most common attachment for a telehandler is pallet forks and the most common application is to move loads from and to places unreachable for a conventional forklift. For instance, teleporters have the capability to remove palletized product from within a box truck and to place that product on to rooftops and other high locations. The latter use would otherwise require a crane, which is not always practical or time-efficient on a job site. In agriculture the most common attachment for a reach forklift is a bucket grab, again the most widely used application is to transport from and to unreachable for a 'conventional machine' which is typically is a wheeled loader or backhoe loader.
