A telehandler, also called a teleporter or a zoom boom, is a machine commonly used in the agriculture industry. It is somewhat like a forklift but has a boom, making it more a crane than a forklift, with the increased versatility of a single telescopic boom that can extend upward and forward from the vehicle. The boom can be fitted with different attachments, such as a bucket or a winch.
In industry, the most common attachment for a lull is pallet forks and the most common application is to move material to and from locations unreachable for a conventional forklift. For instance, zoom booms have the ability to remove palletized cargo from within a trailer and to place that material on to rooftops and other high places. The latter application would otherwise require a crane, which is not always practical or time-efficient in a construction zone.
In agriculture the most common attachment for a telehandler is a bucket grab, again the most widely used application is to move loads to and from places unobtainable for a 'conventional machine' which in this case is a wheeled loader or backhoe loader. For example, zoom booms have the ability to extend directly into a high-sided trailer or hopper. The latter application would otherwise require a conveyor, or something similar
