A telehandler, also called a lull or a reach forklift, is a machine commonly used in the construction industry. It is somewhat like a forklift but has a boom, making it more like a crane than a forklift, with the increased versatility of a single telescopic boom that can extend forward and upward from the vehicle. The boom can be fitted with different attachments, such as pallet forks or a winch.
In construction, the most common attachment for a teleporter is pallet forks and the most widely used application is to move material from and to locations unreachable for a standard forklift. For example, zoom booms have the capability to remove palletized cargo from within a container and to place that cargo on to rooftops and other high places. The latter application would otherwise require a crane, which is not always practical or time-efficient on a job site.
In agriculture the most widely used attachment for a lull is a bucket, and the most common application is to transport to and from places unreachable for a 'conventional machine' which in this case is a wheeled loader or backhoe loader. For instance, teleporters have the ability to reach directly into a high-sided trailer or hopper. The latter application would otherwise require a loading ramp, or something similar
