A telescopic handler, also called a lull or a reach forklift, is a piece of equipment commonly used in the agriculture industry. It is somewhat like a forklift but has a telescopic cylinder, making it more a crane than a forklift, with the expanded versatility of a single telescopic boom that can reach upward and forward from the machine. The boom can be fitted with different attachments, such as pallet forks or a winch.
In construction, the most widely used attachment for a teleporter is pallet forks and the most widely used application is to move material to and from locations unattainable for a conventional forklift. For instance, teleporters have the capability to move palletized product from within a box truck and to place that product on to rooftops and other high places. The latter use would otherwise require a crane, which is not always practical or time-efficient on a job site.
In agriculture the most common attachment for a telehandler is a bucket, again the most common application is to transport from and to unreachable for a 'conventional machine' which in this case is a wheeled loader or backhoe loader. For instance, telehandlers are able to reach directly into a high-sided trailer or hopper. The latter application would otherwise require a conveyor, or something similar
