A telescopic handler, also known as a teleporter or a reach forklift, is a piece of equipment commonly used in the agriculture industry. It is similar to a forklift but has a telescopic cylinder, making it more a crane than a forklift, with the expanded versatility of a single telescopic boom that can extend upward and forward from the vehicle. The boom can be fitted with different attachments, such as a bucket or a muck grab. In industry, the most common attachment for a teleporter is pallet forks and the most widely used application is to move loads to and from locations unreachable for a conventional forklift. For example, zoom booms have the ability to remove palletized material from within a trailer and to place that cargo on to rooftops and other elevated locations. The latter application would otherwise require a crane, which is not always practical or time-efficient on a work site. In agriculture the most common attachment for a telehandler is a bucket grab, and the most widely used application is to transport to and from places unobtainable for a 'conventional machine' which in this case is a wheeled loader or backhoe loader. For example, reach forklifts are able to reach directly into a high-sided trailer or hopper. The latter application would otherwise require a conveyor, or something similar
