A telescopic handler, also called a teleporter or a reach forklift, is a machine commonly used in the construction industry. It is similar to a forklift but has a telescopic cylinder, making it more a crane than a forklift, with the expanded versatility of a single telescopic boom that can reach forward and upward from the machine. The boom can be fitted with different attachments, such as a bucket or a winch. In construction, the most common attachment for a zoom boom is pallet forks and the most common application is to move loads to and from places unreachable for a standard forklift. For example, telehandlers have the ability to move palletized cargo from within a container and to place that material on to rooftops and other high places. The latter application would otherwise require a crane, which is not always practical or time-efficient on a job site. In agriculture the most widely used attachment for a teleporter is a bucket grab, again the most common application is to move loads to and from places unobtainable for a 'conventional machine' which is typically is a wheeled loader or backhoe loader.
