A telehandler, also called a teleporter or a reach forklift, is a piece of equipment widely used in the construction industry. It is somewhat like a forklift but has a telescopic cylinder, making it more a crane than a forklift, with the increased versatility of a single telescopic boom that can reach forward and upward from the machine. The boom can be fitted with different attachments, such as a bucket or a muck grab. In industry, the most common attachment for a telehandler is pallet forks and the most widely used application is to move material to and from locations unreachable for a standard forklift. For instance, lulls have the capability to remove palletized product from within a box truck and to place that product on to rooftops and other elevated places. The latter application would otherwise require a crane, which is not always practical or time-efficient on a work site. In agriculture the most common attachment for a reach forklift is a bucket grab, again the most widely used application is to transport from and to unobtainable for a 'conventional machine' which in this case is a wheeled loader or backhoe loader. For example, reach forklifts are able to reach directly into a high-sided trailer or hopper. The latter application would otherwise require a conveyor, or something similar
