A telescopic handler, also called a lull or a reach forklift, is a piece of equipment often used in the construction industry. It is somewhat like a forklift but has a telescopic cylinder, making it more a crane than a forklift, with the increased versatility of a single telescopic boom that can extend upward and forward from the vehicle. The boom can be fitted with different attachments, such as a bucket or a muck grab. In industry, the most widely used attachment for a telehandler is pallet forks and the most common application is to move loads to and from places unreachable for a conventional forklift. For instance, telehandlers have the capability to remove palletized cargo from within a container and to place that product on to rooftops and other high locations. The latter application would otherwise require a crane, which is not always practical or time-efficient on a work site. In agriculture the most widely used attachment for a telehandler is a bucket, again the most common application is to transport to and from places unobtainable for a 'conventional machine' which is typically is a wheeled loader or backhoe loader.
