A telescopic handler, also called a lull or a reach forklift, is a piece of equipment commonly used in the construction industry. It is similar to a forklift but has a telescopic cylinder, making it more like a crane than a forklift, with the increased versatility of a single telescopic boom that can extend upward and forward from the machine. The boom can be fitted with different attachments, such as pallet forks or a muck grab. In construction, the most common attachment for a telehandler is pallet forks and the most widely used application is to move material to and from places unattainable for a standard forklift. For example, reach forklifts have the ability to move palletized material from within a container and to place that cargo on to rooftops and other high places. The latter use would otherwise require a crane, which is not always practical or time-efficient on a job site. In agriculture the most common attachment for a reach forklift is a bucket grab, again the most common application is to transport to and from places unobtainable for a 'conventional machine' which in this case is a wheeled loader or backhoe loader.
