A telescopic handler, also known as a teleporter or a reach forklift, is a piece of equipment often used in the construction industry. It is similar to a forklift but has a boom, making it more a crane than a forklift, with the expanded versatility of a single telescopic boom that can extend upward and forward from the vehicle. The boom can be fitted with different attachments, such as pallet forks or a muck grab. In construction, the most widely used attachment for a telehandler is pallet forks and the most widely used application is to move material to and from places unattainable for a standard forklift. For instance, lulls have the ability to remove palletized product from within a trailer and to place that cargo on to rooftops and other elevated locations. The latter application would otherwise require a crane, which is not always practical or time-efficient on a work site. In agriculture the most widely used attachment for a reach forklift is a bucket, again the most common application is to move loads from and to unreachable for a 'conventional machine' which in this case is a wheeled loader or backhoe loader.
