A telescopic handler, also known as a teleporter or a zoom boom, is a piece of equipment often used in the agriculture industry. It is somewhat like a forklift but has a boom, making it more like a crane than a forklift, with the increased versatility of a single telescopic boom that can reach forward and upward from the vehicle. The boom can be fitted with different attachments, such as a bucket or a muck grab. In construction, the most widely used attachment for a reach forklift is pallet forks and the most widely used application is to move material to and from locations unreachable for a conventional forklift. For instance, zoom booms have the capability to remove palletized cargo from within a box truck and to place that material on to rooftops and other elevated locations. The latter use would otherwise require a crane, which is not always practical or time-efficient on a work site.
