A telehandler, also called a lull or a zoom boom, is a piece of equipment often used in the construction industry. It is somewhat like a forklift but has a boom, making it more a crane than a forklift, with the increased versatility of a single telescopic boom that can extend forward and upward from the machine. The boom can be fitted with different attachments, such as pallet forks or a muck grab.
In industry, the most widely used attachment for a teleporter is pallet forks and the most common application is to move material from and to places unreachable for a standard forklift. For example, telehandlers have the ability to move palletized material from within a box truck and to place that product on to rooftops and other elevated locations. The latter use would otherwise require a crane, which is not always practical or time-efficient on a job site.
In the agricultural industry the most widely used attachment for a reach forklift is a bucket, and the most common application is to transport to and from places unreachable for a 'conventional machine' which is typically is a wheeled loader or backhoe loader. For example, lulls are able to extend directly into a high-sided trailer or hopper. The latter application would otherwise require a conveyor, or something similar
