A telescopic handler, also called a teleporter or a reach forklift, is a machine commonly used in the agriculture industry. It is similar to a forklift but has a boom, making it more like a crane than a forklift, with the expanded versatility of a single telescopic boom that can reach upward and forward from the machine. The boom can be fitted with different attachments, such as pallet forks or a muck grab. In industry, the most widely used attachment for a teleporter is pallet forks and the most widely used application is to move material to and from locations unreachable for a standard forklift. For instance, teleporters have the capability to move palletized material from within a box truck and to place that material on to rooftops and other high locations. The latter use would otherwise require a crane, which is not always practical or time-efficient on a job site. In agriculture the most common attachment for a zoom boom is a bucket, and the most common application is to transport from and to unreachable for a 'conventional machine' which is typically is a wheeled loader or backhoe loader. For example, telehandlers have the ability to extend directly into a high-sided trailer or hopper. The latter application would otherwise require a conveyor, or something similar
