A telescopic handler, also known as a lull or a zoom boom, is a machine often used in the agriculture industry. It is somewhat like a forklift but has a telescopic cylinder, making it more a crane than a forklift, with the expanded versatility of a single telescopic boom that can extend upward and forward from the machine. The boom can be fitted with different attachments, such as pallet forks or a muck grab. In industry, the most widely used attachment for a telehandler is pallet forks and the most common application is to move loads from and to locations unreachable for a conventional forklift. For instance, reach forklifts have the capability to remove palletized material from within a box truck and to place that material on to rooftops and other high places. The latter use would otherwise require a crane, which is not always practical or time-efficient on a work site. In the agricultural industry the most common attachment for a telehandler is a bucket grab, and the most common application is to transport to and from places unreachable for a 'conventional machine' which is typically is a wheeled loader or backhoe loader. For instance, lulls have the ability to extend directly into a high-sided trailer or hopper. The latter application would otherwise require a conveyor, or something similar
