A telescopic handler, also known as a lull or a reach forklift, is a piece of equipment widely used in the construction industry. It is similar to a forklift but has a telescopic cylinder, making it more like a crane than a forklift, with the increased versatility of a single telescopic boom that can extend upward and forward from the vehicle. The boom can be fitted with different attachments, such as a bucket or a winch. In construction, the most widely used attachment for a telehandler is pallet forks and the most widely used application is to move material to and from places unreachable for a conventional forklift. For example, lulls have the ability to move palletized material from within a box truck and to place that material on to rooftops and other elevated places. The latter use would otherwise require a crane, which is not always practical or time-efficient on a job site. In agriculture the most widely used attachment for a reach forklift is a bucket, again the most common application is to transport to and from places unreachable for a 'conventional machine' which in this case is a wheeled loader or backhoe loader.
