A telescopic handler, also known as a lull or a reach forklift, is a machine widely used in the construction industry. It is similar to a forklift but has a boom, making it more like a crane than a forklift, with the expanded versatility of a single telescopic boom that can extend forward and upward from the vehicle. The boom can be fitted with different attachments, such as pallet forks or a winch. In construction, the most common attachment for a teleporter is pallet forks and the most common application is to move material from and to locations unreachable for a standard forklift. For example, zoom booms have the ability to move palletized material from within a trailer and to place that product on to rooftops and other high places. The latter application would otherwise require a crane, which is not always practical or time-efficient on a work site. In the agricultural industry the most widely used attachment for a zoom boom is a bucket, again the most widely used application is to move loads from and to unreachable for a 'conventional machine' which in this case is a wheeled loader or backhoe loader. For instance, lulls have the ability to extend directly into a high-sided trailer or hopper. The latter application would otherwise require a conveyor, or something similar
