A telescopic handler, also called a lull or a reach forklift, is a piece of equipment often used in the agriculture industry. It is somewhat like a forklift but has a telescopic cylinder, making it more a crane than a forklift, with the expanded versatility of a single telescopic boom that can extend forward and upward from the machine. The boom can be fitted with different attachments, such as a bucket or a winch. In construction, the most common attachment for a lull is pallet forks and the most common application is to move loads to and from places unattainable for a standard forklift. For example, lulls have the capability to move palletized product from within a trailer and to place that product on to rooftops and other high places. The latter application would otherwise require a crane, which is not always practical or time-efficient on a work site. In agriculture the most common attachment for a zoom boom is a bucket grab, again the most common application is to move loads to and from places unobtainable for a 'conventional machine' which is typically is a wheeled loader or backhoe loader. For instance, lulls are able to extend directly into a high-sided trailer or hopper. The latter application would otherwise require a conveyor, or something similar
