A telehandler, also called a lull or a reach forklift, is a machine often used in the construction industry. It is similar to a forklift but has a telescopic cylinder, making it more like a crane than a forklift, with the increased versatility of a single telescopic boom that can reach upward and forward from the vehicle. The boom can be fitted with different attachments, such as a bucket or a winch. In construction, the most widely used attachment for a reach forklift is pallet forks and the most common application is to move material to and from places unattainable for a standard forklift. For example, teleporters have the ability to move palletized material from within a box truck and to place that cargo on to rooftops and other high places. The latter application would otherwise require a crane, which is not always practical or time-efficient on a work site. In the agricultural industry the most widely used attachment for a teleporter is a bucket, again the most common application is to transport from and to unreachable for a 'conventional machine' which in this case is a wheeled loader or backhoe loader. For instance, telehandlers are able to reach directly into a high-sided trailer or hopper. The latter application would otherwise require a conveyor, or something similar
