A telehandler, also known as a lull or a reach forklift, is a piece of equipment often used in the agriculture industry. It is similar to a forklift but has a telescopic cylinder, making it more like a crane than a forklift, with the expanded versatility of a single telescopic boom that can reach forward and upward from the machine. The boom can be fitted with different attachments, such as a bucket or a muck grab. In construction, the most widely used attachment for a lull is pallet forks and the most common application is to move material from and to locations unreachable for a conventional forklift. For instance, zoom booms have the capability to remove palletized cargo from within a box truck and to place that material on to rooftops and other elevated locations. The latter use would otherwise require a crane, which is not always practical or time-efficient on a job site. In the agricultural industry the most common attachment for a reach forklift is a bucket, and the most common application is to move loads from and to unobtainable for a 'conventional machine' which in this case is a wheeled loader or backhoe loader.
