A telehandler, also called a teleporter or a reach forklift, is a machine often used in the construction industry. It is somewhat like a forklift but has a boom, making it more a crane than a forklift, with the expanded versatility of a single telescopic boom that can reach upward and forward from the vehicle. The boom can be fitted with different attachments, such as a bucket or a winch. In industry, the most widely used attachment for a telehandler is pallet forks and the most widely used application is to move material from and to locations unattainable for a standard forklift. For example, lulls have the ability to move palletized cargo from within a trailer and to place that cargo on to rooftops and other high locations. The latter application would otherwise require a crane, which is not always practical or time-efficient in a construction zone. In agriculture the most common attachment for a telehandler is a bucket grab, again the most widely used application is to move loads to and from places unobtainable for a 'conventional machine' which in this case is a wheeled loader or backhoe loader. For instance, teleporters are able to extend directly into a high-sided trailer or hopper. The latter application would otherwise require a conveyor, or something similar
