A telescopic handler, also known as a teleporter or a reach forklift, is a piece of equipment often used in the construction industry. It is similar to a forklift but has a telescopic cylinder, making it more like a crane than a forklift, with the increased versatility of a single telescopic boom that can reach upward and forward from the machine. The boom can be fitted with different attachments, such as pallet forks or a muck grab. In construction, the most widely used attachment for a telehandler is pallet forks and the most widely used application is to move loads to and from locations unattainable for a standard forklift. For example, lulls have the capability to remove palletized cargo from within a container and to place that cargo on to rooftops and other elevated places. The latter use would otherwise require a crane, which is not always practical or time-efficient in a construction zone. In agriculture the most widely used attachment for a teleporter is a bucket grab, again the most common application is to transport to and from places unreachable for a 'conventional machine' which in this case is a wheeled loader or backhoe loader. For instance, lulls are able to reach directly into a high-sided trailer or hopper. The latter application would otherwise require a conveyor, or something similar
