A telescopic handler, also called a teleporter or a zoom boom, is a machine widely used in the agriculture industry. It is similar to a forklift but has a boom, making it more like a crane than a forklift, with the increased versatility of a single telescopic boom that can extend forward and upward from the machine. The boom can be fitted with different attachments, such as pallet forks or a winch. In construction, the most widely used attachment for a teleporter is pallet forks and the most common application is to move material from and to locations unreachable for a conventional forklift. For instance, telehandlers have the ability to move palletized cargo from within a trailer and to place that cargo on to rooftops and other elevated places. The latter application would otherwise require a crane, which is not always practical or time-efficient on a work site. In agriculture the most common attachment for a telehandler is a bucket, again the most common application is to move loads to and from places unobtainable for a 'conventional machine' which in this case is a wheeled loader or backhoe loader.
